The Tavern was orginally The Enfield Grocery Store, built in 1916. In 1929, the grocery store moved next door and the location became a steakhouse. It was rumored that a brothel and speakeasy was ran out of the location during prohibition. After prohibition ended in 1933, The Tavern opened as a legal bar and restaurant. In 1934, the decorative carvings were added to the structure. By 2002, the Tavern was in a state of desrepair and was restored by the current owners.
