Completed in 1981, this flagship theatre of Texas Performing Arts is the largest in Austin, with seating for 2,900.
The Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Concert Hall boasts a vast stage, an orchestra pit capable of holding 100 musicians, dressing rooms to accommodate more than 100 performers, computerized lighting, advanced sound and rigging systems, and a mammoth backstage area complete with workshops for carpentry, costumes, painting, metalwork and props.
Ranking among the finest performance spaces in the country both in size and accoutrements, it is no wonder that Bass Concert Hall attracts the worlds greatest performers and full-scale productions.
Comprised of six different venues, including the Universitys 3,000-seat flagship theatre, Bass Concert Hall, Texas Performing Arts has played host to magnificent touring Broadway productions like Disneys THE LION KING, legendary stars such as Aretha Franklin and world-class dance companies and classical ensembles from around the globe.
A few of the legendary names to grace our stage include Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torm, Robin Williams, Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Twyla Tharp, Tori Amos, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Beck, Flaming Lips, Los Lobos, Royal Ballet of London, Pina Bausch Dance Theatre, Savion Glover, Carol Burnett, Cary Grant, Gregory Peck, Juanes, Caetano Veloso, Philip Glass, Victor Borge and Marcel Marceau.
