Birdy and The Melody Men

Birdy and Melody Men was formed in the summer of 2010.
Catherine Parke (aka Birdy) is a 19 year old UT sophomore and member of the UT Womens Chorus. Catherine has played violin and sung in a variety of groups over the years including the Austin Youth Orchestra and the Austin Girls Choir. The Melody Men is her debut band as lead singer.
Jeff Blumenthal has been playing bass for many years. Since moving to Austin in 1990 he has enjoyed playing informally in various jam sessions, and as part of several local groups. Comfortable with hard rock, Jeff also enjoys the challenge of playing jazz standards and welcomes the opportunity to play a variety of genres with Birdy and the Melody Men.
Scott White, a recent transplant to Austin, moved from his home in Albuquerque in 2009 to marry his wife Tess. Scott started playing drums at 13 and has already played in several bands since moving to Austin. Scott plays a monthly concert with his church ministry for the homeless at the 6th street overpass.
Frank McCarthy has been a lover of guitars since playing in a biracial band in his hometown of Tulsa. His musical interests range from Dylan to The Doors, from Herbie Hancock to Eddie Harris. A songwriter for the last decade he served as rhythm guitarist for the Trish Bales group.
Richard Parke plays guitar, mandolin, fiddle, flute, dobro and bass. A Berklee alum, he has played extensively throughout the US in a wide variety of bands, many with national recognition. Richard has 4 children and is the father of Birdy.
