Belly Dancing Performances at Phara's
Our lovely, mesmerizing Belly Dancers perform Wednesday through Sunday, starting at 8 p.m. The Belly Dancing performances are free to Pharas patrons, but it is customary to pass a basket for the dancers.
Thank you Chris Corsbie:
This place is one of Austin's true treasures, fit for the banquet of a Sultan, yet within reach of all good souls who wish to relax and celebrate in the cool of the evening with friends and family.
The magical ambiance, good service, good food, and delightful entertainment entice dreams to come true... and they do!
Phara, a gracious and elegant hostess, leads her crew in providing an exciting and happy place for people to enjoy with friends and family.
She has assembled a beautiful collection of art and decor from the exotic east. One may choose to sit on beautiful carpets and cushions and eat from small, round tables surrounded by tapestries and hanging lamps in an intimate setting, or one may desire to sit in the bustling courtyard at tables long enough for a whole wedding party, and all points in between.
We are welcome to bring our favorite beverages to share! They are happy to keep your refreshments entrusted to them, well chilled, until you are ready for them to pop the cork and pour out your love for the dear ones in the elegant glassware provided, when you give the signal.
The lights of many colors hanging from the trees and pavilions in her courtyard glitter like the stars of the Arabian night sky as you all raise your glasses in celebration, enchanting with your kudos, jests and remembrances.
There is always a breeze in the trees at Phara's.
The food is well prepared and brings life to the senses. The appetizers make your wine and beers very enjoyable as the chef and his helpers work their wonders. No rush at Phara's, just smooth flow and glow.
Baba Ganough is a personal favorite.
It's fun to tear just the right size strip of warm pita bread to scoop it up into that little bite of yumminess, and then, savor it yourself, hand it to your friend, or feed it to them yourself!
The lamb dishes, the veggie sampler platter, and the chicken kabobs are most appetizing and served with a flourish and panache.
The way the dishes are presented with bright rubies of dried cranberry and emeralds of parsley dancing in the long grained rice sets the stage.
While the kabobs, tender and fragrant, tell your nose stories of Love and Fire, you all enjoy the friendly and professional service of Phara's artful servers, like Beebee, always ready with a smile and a recommendation, if requested.
The baklava, full of honeyed nutting goodness, and tasty coffee served with Turkish delight are the just deserts of lovers and friends, many splendored.
Mohammed is the master of the hookah tradition, personally supervising the smoking blends and keeping the tall water pipes sillfully stoked, a consummate professional.
He delivers simply the best hookah experience in Austin.
Like a hawk he watches to see where he is needed and comes directly to you on a mission to serve, then disappears in a spicy puff of smoke.
The dancers, especially the lovely Janete Mahaila every Thursday and Saturday night, and musicians at times, really help make this place special, sharing so much grace and joy.
Janete, always draped in colorful costumes and jewels, smiles so invitingly that all are welcome to join her in dancing, and do! I've seen so many happy ladies, and their gentlemen, truly enjoying themselves at Phara's.
